In fact, dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions seen by veterinarians.** When left untreated or under-treated, dental disease can affect not just the mouth, but also damage the kidneys, liver and heart as infected tissue is swallowed. Bad breath is a warning sign of gum disease.

The good news is that gum disease can easily be prevented at home with basic oral hygiene. But when we looked at the pet dental products on the market, we were disappointed with the options. The toothbrushes had hard bristles, the designs weren’t ergonomic for the owners, and the ingredients in consumables like toothpaste contained manmade preservatives like sodium benzoate.
